Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Bring a #pot{} with @salt{1%tbsp} water to a boil. Halve the @red pepper{1%unit}, remove the core, seeds, and white veins. Slice the pepper lengthwise into thin strips. Finely mince @garlic{2%clove} and cube @chorizo sausages{2%unit}.

Coat the peppers in @olive oil{1½%tsp} and season with @salt{½%tsp} and a pinch of @black pepper{}. Put them on a #baking sheet{} and roast for ~{15%minutes}, until golden and crispy around the edges.

Add @penne{6%oz} to the boiling water and cook ~{10%minutes}, until al dente.

Heat a second #pot{} over medium heat with @olive oil{½%tsp}. Add the chorizo and cook ~{4%minutes}, until crispy. Add the garlic and cook ~{30%seconds}, until fragrant. Add @diced tomatoes{1%can}, @chili powder{½%tsp}, @sugar{½%tsp}, @salt{½%tsp}, and a pinch of black pepper. Bubble away and let it thicken.

Gently mix the roasted peppers into the sauce. Drain the pasta with a #strainer{} and stir it into the sauce. Serve it in bowls with a sprinkle of @parmesan cheese{¼%cup}.
